The iPhone XS Max is not only expensive to buy, it's also expensive to repair!
When you're buying the iPhone XS Max, do consider adding in the AppleCare+ warranty package if you do not want to shell out a hefty amount for repair fees.
The iPhone XS Max has surpassed the iPhone X in terms of repair costs; a screen repair for the former will cost S$488 if it is not covered by AppleCare+. The limited one-year warranty does not cover accidental screen damages as well. When you look at the repair fee for other damages (e.g. liquid damage) it increases significantly to S$888!
In comparison, the repair fees for screen and other damages for the iPhone X are S$488 and S$818 respectively.
When the iPhone XS Max is covered under the S$368 AppleCare+ warranty, the screen repair and other damages fees drop to S$42 and S$148 respectively.
Similar to what we recommended last year, you shouldn't think twice when buying the S$368 AppleCare+ for the iPhone XS Max. The cost to benefit ratio is definitely worth it; AppleCare+ extends the warranty coverage to two years and provides up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage (S$42 for screen damage and S$148 for any other damage).
