Feast your eyes on the winning photos of the 2020 iPhone Photography Awards

The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA) has been given out to photographers since 2008 to celebrate the beauty of iPhone photography.

Not only is it a stunning showcase of iPhone and phone photography, but it also demonstrates the advances in imaging that phones have made.

Kenan Aktulan, the founder of the awards, said:

Since the start of the IPPAWARDS the iPhone photography has evolved exponentially with every new model of iPhone. The technical quality of the photos taken is on-par or above most DSLR cameras. We’ve been noticing less reliance on heavy use of filters and apps compare to early days. The most significant improvement we’ve been seeing is how users are becoming more fluent with the visual language, storytelling, capturing emotional moments and a slice of time. iPhone’s ease of use made that possible and accessible to every user. When a tool becomes invisible users are able to focus on the moments and experiences they are trying to capture.

This year’s awards are particularly special because there’s a winner from Singapore. Wu Jiawen was placed third in the Nature category for this shot of lava while on holiday in Hawaii.

And seeing that much of the world is in some form of lockdown now and that leisure travel is out of the question, these photos are probably the next best thing.

Here are some of my favourite shots from this year’s awards.
