iPhone 15 tipped to support Qi2 standard and 15W wireless charging speed
The Apple iPhone 15 might support up to 15W wireless charging with or without the use of the MagSafe charger.
According to ChargerLab, an industry source claims the Apple iPhone 15 is compatible with the new Qi2 wireless charging standard. As Qi2 is based on Apple's MagSafe technology, ChargerLab believes Qi2 wireless chargers are likely able to charge the iPhone 15 at up to 15W. Existing non-MagSafe chargers can only support up to 7.5W speeds on the iPhones.
ChargerLab says this opens up the possibility of more affordable MagSafe-like chargers coming into the market for the iPhones and Android devices.
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) shared in January that Qi2-certified phones and chargers are slated to arrive in the 2023 holiday season, which coincides with the launch of the Apple iPhone 15 series.
