Quoting anonymous sources within Apple's supply chain, DigiTimes is claiming that Apple is increasing the production of the alleged iPad Mini to four million units per month starting from September. Low volume production of the device is said to have begun in June, and this increase in production is in preparation for the rumored launch in October.

The iPad Mini is rumored to be launched together with the next generation iPhone on 12th September, and it is widely speculated to come with a 7.85-inch display that resembles a big iPod Touch "with smaller bezels along the sides in portrait mode". Engineering samples of the iPad Mini were leaked last month, showing a thinner design that is about two-thirds the size of the third generation iPad and a smaller dock connector.

Apple watcher iMore reported in May that the iPad Mini will be priced between US$200 and US$250, which will put it in the same price range as the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire.
