Intel and McAfee Unveil DeepSAFE, A Hardware-Assisted Security Technology

Intel and McAfee have revealed McAfee DeepSAFE which is a new and holistic approach to ensure computing devices are protected against intrusions from security breaches and malware. The framework sits below your operating system and will allow McAfee to develop hardware-assisted security features.

"When you operate below the operating system level you get a unique advantage," said McAfee exec Vimal Solanki. "You can monitor how the operating system is behaving and if there are any threats attempting to infect the OS itself." "I've been in the security industry 20 years and I've never seen anything as exciting."

With the announcement of this new DeepSAFE technology, McAfee and Intel are working to change the industry by combining the power of hardware and software to create much more sophisticated ways to prevent attacks. Cybercriminals know how to circumvent current operating systems-based security measures, demanding a new paradigm -- security beyond the operating system. More details should arise soon as McAfee DeepSAFE is expected to ship in products later this year.
