Intel just announced that it has acquired Rivet Networks.

The Rivet Networks team will join Intel's Wireless Solutions Group within its Client Computing Group. Rivet Networks' key products such as the Killer brand of network interface cards (NICs), will be integrated into Intel's broader PC Wi-Fi portfolio. Intel plans to license Rivet Networks' software to customers and develop new solutions for broader PC connectivity enhancement.

Rivet Networks is a leader in software and cloud-based technologies for networking connectivity. It is well-known for its Killer-branded NICs which can be found in Alienware, Dell and HP laptops. Its networking products also provide gaming-centric features such as minimising latency and prioritising network traffic for games.
