Insta360's first smartphone gimbal comes with AI tracking tech
Insta360 just announced its first smartphone gimbal.
The Insta360 Flow comes with the company's AI tracking technology, Deep Track 3.0 which enables the smartphone gimbal to track subjects in real-time, rotate to follow the movement of subjects, and frame shots automatically. Deep Track 3.0 is able to achieve these feats through:
- Person Re-Identification: continuous tracking of a subject throughout a recording even if he/she is blocked from view
- All-Angle Tracking: continuous tracking as the subject's shape changes
- Tracking Recovery: keeps tracking a subject by zooming out or following the direction it is moving
To cater for social media enthusiasts, the Insta360 has Zoom Tracking, Slow Motion Tracking and Live Mode for tracking while video calling or live streaming in another app such as Instagram and TikTok.
Insta360 says the Flow is the only smartphone gimbal to integrate a creator's essential shooting tools into one device for shooting on the go. They are the selfie stick, tripod, power bank and built-in cold shoe. The Insta360 Flow can also be deployed in just one motion so that the user will never miss a random shot! For iPhone users, the Insta360 app will detect the Flow when attached and send a notification to open the app to connect.
Other features include a SmartWheel for quick access to a host of useful functions (e.g. shooting controls, video replay), Auto mode which automatically adjusts gimbal settings based on the user's movements for shake-free shots, FPV mode to simulate FPV drone-like movements (e.g. barrel roll), Shot Genie which offers over 80 templates on shooting techniques, and Hoop Mode for basketball fans.
The 2,900mAh battery on the Insta360 Flow is stated to deliver up to 12 hours of usage, and can be recharged via the USB-C port.
The Insta360 Flow is available for purchase via Insta360.com, Amazon (U.S, Europe, and Japan) and select retailers for US$159.99. The retail package comes with a magnetic phone clamp, charge cable, grip cover and protective pouch.
