Improving the printing experience the HP way
One of the new products announced at HP Reinvent was the HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series, an office printer with a small footprint designed to meet the needs of businesses with employees working remotely.
Ng Tian Chong, Managing Director, Greater Asia at HP, said:
Businesses are ramping up for growth post-COVID and want to empower their employees with flexible, hybrid working environments. With new innovations spanning our PC, print and services portfolios, HP aims to give them the best experiences on their devices, powerful performance, seamless management, and essential support. With small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) accounting for 97% of all businesses in Asia-Pacific and employing over half of the workforce, HP is also committed to addressing SMBs' need for practical help in digital transformation by offering easy and affordable access to technology, security and support services.
Due to the current COVID situation, many employees are mandated to work remotely outside the office, this leads to security being a top concern for businesses to safeguard their confidential documents and data. HP strives to address this concern with a host of security features in their new HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series printer to provide a most secure printing experience:
- End-to-end secure printing system that goes beyond the hardware (such as the cartridge), to protect data and information.
- HP Sure Start with automatic self-healing which enables the printer to protect, detect, and self-recover from vulnerabilities and attacks.
- HP Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to provide secure device identity with certificate private keys, strengthening the protection of encrypted credentials and data.
The implementation of distributed workforces and work from home arrangements has many businesses adopting remote management and digital workflows. To facilitate remote management, the HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series printer will also provide seamless remote management features to free up IT resources for strategic priorities:
- HP Web Jetadmin and HP JetAdvantage Security Manager to enable easy remote management of devices and settings.
- HP Open Extensibility Platform to allow easy deployment and integration of HP and third-party solutions.
- Support for card readers.
- Allow users to use personalised settings to print from their own queue.
The HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series printer is expected to be available in December 2020.
Besides the new HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series printer, a new version of the HP FutureSmart firmware was also announced. It provides a consistent and secure operational system across all HP’s enterprise printers. To be launched together with the HP LaserJet Enterprise 400 series printer, the new HP FutureSmart 5 firmware will provide users with investment protection, additional security protections, and readiness for advanced cloud-based workflows features.
In addition, HP also announced some new Print innovations expected to be available in 2021:
- HP DesignJet portfolio for architect, engineer, construction and home offices.
- Document Workflow Cloud solution to simplify the flow of information from paper to digital.
- Fleet Onboarding Tool which enables partners to quickly onboard HP Workpath across the printer fleet.
As hybrid workplaces become the new normal, businesses will have to transform and focus on making remote employees as productive, connected, and secure as possible.
