The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro and Watch Fit 2 Active Edition wearables are making their way to Singapore. Before we talk about the purchase details and bonuses, let’s take a quick look at what these new devices offer.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro Titanium Edition features a smartwatch form factor, with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display (466 x 466 pixels resolution), and a crown and button along the right side of the device.

Like most fitness tracking products from major tech brands, it offers comprehensive health monitoring (heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, menstrual cycle, and more). For heart rate monitoring, the watch uses Huawei TruSeen 5.0+, which takes SpO2 measurements to provide the readings.

What’s also interesting is the dive monitor, which displays basic diving stats like duration, depth, and speed. Basic dive monitoring is just one of the 100+ workout modes the Watch GT 3 Pro can also track on your behalf.

The standout feature lies in the smartwatch’s construction. As implied in its name, the Watch GT 3 Pro has a titanium body and a sapphire watch dial for added control and durability. The watch also retains the long-lasting battery life the series is known for, offering up to 14 days of typical use and eight days of heavy use on a single charge.

Huawei Watch Fit 2 Active Edition

The Watch Fit 2 looks much more casual than the premium-looking Watch GT 3 Pro, but don’t be fooled by its appearances. As a fitness tracker, it’s just as competent in keeping tabs on your health metrics.

By default, Watch Fit 2 offers tracking for heart rate, sleep, menstrual cycle, and stress, on top of automatic SpO2 monitoring. All these details are communicated via its 1.74-inch AMOLED display (336 x 480 pixels resolution).

The front and rear case are made of “polymer” (not fully specified), with three case colours (Sakura Pink, Isle Blue, and Midnight Black) to go with its vast array of press-to-release straps.

The Watch Fit 2 has ten days of battery life for typical use and seven days of battery life for heavy usage. Like the Watch GT 3 Pro, it uses Bluetooth for calls and message notifications.

7 June 2022 Update: Notably, the Watch Fit 2 available here is the Active Edition, which comes with polymer cases and straps (in Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, Isle Blue), and has no NFC. There are also other NFC-capable versions available elsewhere, like the aluminium case Classic Edition (Nebula Gray and Moon White) and Elegant Edition (Premium Gold and Silver Frost).

Watch GT 3 Pro vs Watch Fit 2? How are they different?

If both can keep up with all your major health monitoring needs, what does the Watch GT 3 Pro offer that the Watch Fit 2 can’t do?

Besides the obvious difference in design and aesthetics, the Watch GT 3 Pro and Watch Fit 2 also stand out in ways that make the former a smartwatch, while the latter a fitness tracker. Most of the clues are found in their official spec sheets (Watch GT 3 Pro and Watch Fit 2), but we’ve summarised them here.

The primary difference between the premium Watch GT 3 Pro and fitness-centric Watch Fit 2 lies in GPS support. Watch GT 3 Pro has GPS and NFC capabilities, but the Watch Fit 2 only has Bluetooth compatibility.

The Watch Fit 2 fitness tracker packs two main sensors – a 9-axis IMU sensor (providing accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensing) and an optical heart rate sensor. On the Watch GT 3 Pro, you not only get dedicated sensors for the accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer functions, but it also comes with a barometer and temperature sensor on top of an optical heart rate sensor.

Huawei also further differentiated both products through other minor quality-of-life differences. For example, the Watch GT 3 Pro has wireless charging, while Watch Fit 2 uses a magnetic charging thimble to get its electric juice. Separately, both have 5ATM water resistance, but only the more expensive Watch GT 3 Pro is IP68 certified.

Finally, both wearables are compatible with phones running Android 6.0 and iOS 9.0 or later, but only the Watch GT 3 Pro has further compatibility with Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2 or later.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro officially retails at S$468, while the Huawei Fit 2 retails at S$148.

7 June 2022 update: Huawei Singapore decided to sell the Huawei Fit 2 Active Edition at S$168 instead.

From 10 June 2022 onwards, both wearables can be found at Huawei Authorised Stores, official online stores (Lazada, Shopee), and authorised consumer electronics stores.

Each purchase of either wearable entitles customers to a free Huawei Freelace (worth S$98) while stocks last.
