Huawei's own mobile OS could be ready to ship in October according to Tianfeng International analyst Guo Mingxi.

In his research memo, Mingxi cited information from multiple Chinese sources who claimed that Huawei will ship phones with its own mobile OS in October. However, Huawei is limiting the use of its own mobile OS to entry-level and midrange phones in the Chinese market.

A separate report from Global Times states that Huawei's own mobile OS is 60% faster than Android. The platform is said to be tested with Internet giants and domestic smartphone vendors such as Tencent, Oppo and Vivo. A source told Global Times that major tech companies are also working with Huawei to release its mobile OS earlier.

Huawei has already filed trademark applications for the mobile OS in several countries. The mobile OS is rumored to be called HongMeng for the domestic market and re-branded as Oak OS for the international market.
