The Huawei MateBook X 2020 has a 90% screen-to-body ratio, pressure-sensitive trackpad and Wi-Fi 6
As expected, Huawei has yesterday (Aug 19) officially unveiled the MateBook X 2020.
Here are its key features:
- 1kg, 13.6mm
- 13-inch, 3,000 x 2,000-pixel LTPS LCD (90% screen-to-body ratio)
- 10-point multi-touch, 1,500:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits, 100% sRGB coverage
- Intel 10th Gen Core i5-10210U / i7-10510U (UHD Graphics)
- 8 / 16GB LPDDR3 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD
- 42Wh lithium-ion polymer battery
- Dual-band 802.11ax Wi-Fi (2 x 2 MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0
- 2 x USB-C ports, 3.5mm headphone + mic combo jack
- Multi-touch, pressure-sensitive trackpad
- Quad speakers, dual mics
- Fingerprint sensor integrated with power button
To summarise, the tentpole feature of this new MateBook X is its design, which includes the 1kg light weight, 13.6mm thickness and a 3K display that boasts a 90% screen-to-body ratio thanks to super-thin bezels.
Because of the tiny bezels, Huawei has moved the 720p webcam to under a key between the F6 and F7 keys at the top row of the keyboard. Simply press this dedicated key and the camera will pop up. I must say it’s a rather pretty clever design.
Another highlight is the large pressure-sensitive trackpad. This is also where you tap a compatible Huawei smartphone to activate the Multi-Screen Collaboration function.
Other noteworthy features include Wi-Fi 6 support, four-speaker audio and dual microphones for better voice pickup.
Available in four colour options — silver, blue, pink and green — the new MateBook X is now available for pre-order in China. It's unknown at the moment if the laptop is coming to Singapore.
And here are its prices in China:
- i5 / 8GB / 512GB: 7,999 Yuan (~S$1,580)
- i5 / 16GB / 512GB: 8,999 Yuan (~S$1,775)
- i7 / 16GB / 512GB: 9,999 Yuan (~S$1,970)
