Huawei has a new 14-inch ultraportable notebook in town called the MateBook 14 AMD edition and it's powered by an AMD Ryzen 4000 processor.
Given that AMD announced its Ryzen 4000 processors almost a whole year ago, Huawei can be said to be late to the game. Regardless, it's hard to argue that this notebook – on paper, at least – offers a lot of bang of the buck.
To begin, it has a 14-inch 2K display with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 2,160 x 1,440 pixels. It has super thin bezels which give it a screen-to-body ratio of 90%.
Thanks to an aluminium alloy chassis, the MateBook 14 AMD edition weighs just 1.49kg. It measures 15.9mm thick.
In terms of ports, you are getting a single USB-C port, a full-size HDMI port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-A ports.
Inside, the notebook is powered by a Ryzen 5 4600H processor with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. This will be the only configuration available. This is a 6-core CPU with a base clock of 3GHz, turbo clock of 4GHz, and Radeon Vega 6 integrated graphics.
It will be available in retail on 16 Jan 2021 and it is priced at S$1,298. It will be available for pre-order starting 9 Jan 2021.
And if you pre-order between 9 and 15 Jan 2021, you can get freebies worth S$544 and this includes a Huawei Sound X speaker, a Huawei backpack, a Huawei Bluetooth mouse, and an additional year extended warranty.
You can find it on Huawei's official stores on both Lazada and Shopee.
