HTC to launch 6 to 7 phone models this year

HTC President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Business, Chialin Chang, told Engadget that the company will only be launching 6 to 7 phones this year.

You won't be seeing many new HTC phones this year as compared to previous years.

According to Engadget, HTC President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Business, Chialin Chang, confirmed that the company will only be releasing 6 to 7 smartphones this year. This is about half the number of models from 2016's lineup of 11 to 12 devices. The more conservative product roadmap will allow HTC to focus on its smartphones' core features so as to compete better against other phone makers.

Chang also added that the company will roll out more Sense Companion features via updates to the recently announced U Ultra. Users will see the addition of more third-party services such as dining, malls and taxi apps. The senior executive also teased that several new Desire devices will be released later this year for the "fun and affordable" markets. The next flagship phone will not be called the HTC 11.
