HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM (4GB) with Octa-Core Processor Available From Today
HTC is targeting the sub S$300 market with its latest smartphone, the Desire 616 Dual SIM (4GB). Available from today, the Desire 616 is priced at S$298 without line contract and inclusive of GST.
The Desire 616 sports a 5-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core 1.4GHz processor (the same one used in the Xiaomi Redmi Note albeit with a lower clock speed), 1GB RAM, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.5. It supports 3G connectivity on one slot (normal-sized SIM) and 2G on the other slot (micro-SIM).
The 4GB internal storage is barely sufficient for most people, but the Desire 616 has a microSD memory card slot that supports memory cards up to 32GB. The Desire 616 comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera. It has a decent weight of 150g and measures just 9.15mm thin with a 2,000mAh battery.
Its obvious rival in the market is the S$169 Xiaomi Redmi, which has been very popular among consumers in Singapore. The Desire 616 will face a stronger competitor in the coming weeks as Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 1S.
