HTC and Google in "final stage of negotiation" for sale or investment?
Struggling phone maker HTC is reportedly in the "final stage of negotiation" with Google over a potential sale or strategic investment.
According to Taiwanese publication Commercial Times, HTC is looking to sell its smartphone business and a final decision could be made by the end of the year. However, HTC is not planning to sell its Vive VR business at the moment.
HTC just revealed its financial results for August 2017 where it recorded the lowest revenue for the month in 13 years! Earlier in June, strong sales of its U11 flagship phones helped to lift the company's revenues. In December 2016, HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon tried to allay fears of the company's declining revenues by tweeting that the company was "working hard on future smartphones and Vives".
