HP launched a slew of tantalising products at CES 2021. Here, we look at their product offerings in the portable business laptop space - namely, the Dragonfly and Elitebook series.

At a starting weight of under 1kg, while packing 11th-generation Intel Core processors, the HP Elite Dragonfly G2 offers a compact, convertible form factor for business needs.

Top features include its integrated Intel graphics and the optional support for tapping into gigabit-class LTE or 5G networks, as well as an AI-based audio package tuned by Bang & Olufsen. Content is relayed via its 13.3-inch, 10-point multi-touch, Gorilla Glass 5-strengthened display.

The Elite Dragonfly G2 is one of the selected HP laptops with built-in Tile hardware to track and locate the business convertible. Combined with its mobile data compatibility, users can easily locate the Elite Dragonfly G2. Additionally, the convertible also has HP Tamper Lock, a physical security feature that automatically notifies the owner, and locks the PC if it was physically opened or compromised.

Of course, as a business convertible like its predecessor, it has the 2-in-1 convertible functionality in both tablet and laptop forms. HP also didn't scrimp on ports despite its slim body, since it's replete with one USB 3.1 Gen1 charging port, two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, and a nano-SIM port for that mobile data support.

The compatible HP Rechargeable Pen G3 is sold separately from the Elite Dragonfly G2, but if you enjoy stylus input, you can consider picking one up along with your business convertible.

The HP Elite Dragonfly G2 is due for a March 2021 global launch, with local pricing, availability, and configuration details to be made available later. The convertible comes in one colourway - Dragonfly Blue.

If you do not need the fancy flexibility or touchscreen offered in the Dragonfly series, HP also has conventional, powerful, yet slim laptops for business needs within its Elitebook lineup.

The headlining act is none other than HP EliteBook 840 G8 Aero, which starts at a lightweight 1.15kg. Within its lithe chassis comes an 11-gen Intel Core processor with integrated graphics, Tile capabilities, Wi-Fi 6 support, and optional LTE or 5G connectivity.

Other crucial productivity features include its 14-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) IPS display, its two stereo speakers (tuned by Bang & Olufsen), and a multi-array microphone (two user-facing, one world-facing) for clearer virtual conferences and meetings.

As a productivity whiz, it offers two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, two USB Gen 3.1 ports (one of which offers charging), one HDMI slot, one nano-SIM slot, one 3.5mm audio jack for headphones and microphones, one 4.5mm power connector, and an optional smartcard reader slot.

However, the HP Elitebook 840 G8 Aero has an official global launch date sometime in H2 2021, making it quite a wait before we'll get hold of local pricing and availability.

If you don't wish to wait that long, consider other laptops in the EliteBook series, where new additions like the 13.3-inch Elitebook x360 1030 G8 and 14-inch Elitebook x360 1040 G8 are coming in March 2021. Local prices and other details to be announced at a later date.
