Another Android phone maker confirms plans to launch a smart ring

The Samsung Galaxy Ring gets an official reveal at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. Honor also revealed its plans to have a smart ring at the annual tech show.

Shortly after Samsung officially took the wraps off its Galaxy Ring at MWC 2024, Android phone maker Honor revealed at the annual tech convention its plans to launch a smart ring.

Honor CEO George Zhao told CNBC that the Chinese company is working on a smart ring. However, he did not reveal any details on its launch time frame or specs.

Zhao said:

“Internally, we have this kind of solution, now we are working on that part, so in the future you can have the Honor ring,” he said.

Honor's smart ring would be a part of the company's growing focus on health. Its current lineup of health-focused wearables and products includes smartwatches, bands, and smart weighing scales.

Like most other tech companies, Honor plans to use AI to bolster its software offerings. Zhao says AI can study users' habits and health data to provide "professional suggestions".

Honor plans to take on Apple and its ecosystem in the future as it believes it can build a better one by improving its MagicOS platform and R&D.
