The crowds at the Coachella music festival were stunned when Tupac Shakur was quite literally raised from the dead. The rapper was murdered in 1996 but thanks to advanced computer generated imagery and hologram technology, he was seemingly resurrected for a five minute performance where he performed "Hail Mary" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" with Snoop Dogg.

According to MTV, it was revealed that this was idea of Dr. Dre, who worked with his longtime partner Philip Atwell of Geronimo Productions and Dylan Brown of The Yard to bring Pac to life, complete with his signature tattoos, Timberlands boots, jewelry and movements.

To bring the act to life, a crack team of special effects experts were called on to provide the lifelike image. This was Oscar-winning special effects house Digital Domain, the same people behind the CG images of Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Kevin Bacon in X-Men: First Class. There after, holographic specialists AV Concepts were called on to project the imagery.

The end result is pretty jaw-dropping as you can see from the video below.
