HMD confirms the entire Nokia smartphone portfolio will be updated to Android P
The Android ecosystem is plagued with platform fragmentation, but HMD Global is committed to not letting it happen to its portfolio of Android-powered Nokia phones.
HMD Global's global marketing manager Neil Broadley confirmed that the upcoming Android P will come to the entire Nokia Android portfolio as part of the company's commitment to the "pure, secure, and up-to-date" mantra.
Some of the Android-powered Nokia phones include the one-year-old Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and the new Nokia 6. As for the Android Go-powered Nokia 2.1, Nokia 2 and Nokia 1, HMD confirmed that all three handsets will be upgraded to the next version as well.
HMD Global recently raised $100 million of funding to expand its Nokia phone range and double the sales channels in key markets this year. The company reportedly sold more phones than HTC, Sony, Google, OnePlus and other phone vendors in Q4 2017.
