The high-end model of the next iPhone could cost over US$1,000

Apple has always charged premium price tags for its iPhones and the next generation iPhone is no different.

According to Fast Company, a source familiar with Apple's plans claims that the high-end model with the OLED display could come with a price tag of US$1,000 (~S$1,421). As a point of comparison, the iPhone 7 Plus is currently priced from S$1,248.

The source corroborated an earlier report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that there will be three new iPhone models this year. They will be named iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8.

Fast Company also added that Apple is working with Lumentum on 3D-sensing technology for the iPhone 8. The 3D-sensing technology can be used to recognize the user's face for authentication or to provide better image resolution for the camera. It may also have some augmented reality (AR) applications.
