The first teaser trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI is now out

Grand Theft Auto VI's first teaser trailer, with a release year of 2025.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is over. Or rather, it has now begun.

After a long wait with fans surviving on copium and wishful thinking, Rockstar Games has finally uploaded its first-ever official teaser for Grand Theft Auto VI.

This came more than a year after footage leaks from a security breach at Rockstar Games, and 10 years since the launch of Grand Theft Auto V

The 1m30s trailer on its official YouTube channel shows the game setting in Vice City, a fictional reimagination of Miami (Florida, USA) which was also the scene set for its 2002 single-player RPG, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Instead of recasting its past Vice City protagonists, the new GTA 6 features a duo styled after a modern version of Bonnie and Clyde, peppered with all the scenes and moments GTA fans expect from the series: drug busts, gang fights, petty crimes, police raids, a properly vibrant nightlife, and getting rich in any way possible, or die trying.

The game’s setting is further modernised with simulated social media livestreams and gratuitous shaking of high-quality booty on top of cars and at swimming pools. Talk about staying true to its genre.

According to The Verge, the female lead goes by the name of Lucia, who starts the story off at the end of her prison time.

The official press statement released by Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive (its parent company) added that it’s an open-world game (like the mainline GTA titles before it), and it’s coming to both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2025

“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere” ” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games.
