The Google Pixel Watch may be powered by a four-year-old chipset
Google's first smartwatch is rumoured to be powered by a four-year-old chipset.
A source told 9to5Google that the Google Pixel Watch will run on the Exynos 9110 chipset, which was announced four years ago and used by the Samsung Galaxy Watch. As a quick recap, the Exynos 9110 is built on a 10nm process with two Cortex-A53 cores. It is somewhat similar to Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform though the latter is built on a 12nm process.
9to5Google speculates that the Exynos 9110 is used as the Pixel Watch project started around the same time as the debut of the chipset. Switching to a new chipset may lead to a delay in the launch of the Pixel Watch.
Google officially announced the Pixel Watch a few days ago, but did not provide much information on its specs other than it having a new Wear OS with an updated UI and rich notifications. The Pixel Watch is slated for commercial availability in the fall alongside the Pixel 7 phones.
