Google Pixel 2 said to have a better processor than the Galaxy Note8

The Google Pixel smartphone.

Google's upcoming Pixel 2 smartphone might be the true Android powerhouse to watch out later this year.

Industry sources told Fudzilla that the Pixel 2 would be the first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 836 mobile platform. Compared to the existing Snapdragon 835 mobile platform which is expected to power the Galaxy Note8, the Snapdragon 836 mobile platform will have a higher clock speed for the CPU and GPU which delivers 10% better performance. The Pixel 2 will also benefit from better battery life.

As the Snapdragon 836 is not exclusive to the Pixel 2, other Android vendors such as OnePlus and Xiaomi are expected to launch handsets powered by the new mobile platform towards the end of the year or early 2018.
