As most would’ve noticed, Google Maps gets regularly updated with new features and perks. Now, electric vehicle (EV) owners can have an easier time finding a compatible charging station for their cars.

According to Google’s blog post, Google Maps now offer real-time information about EV chargers near the user. To make things easier, the new update now allows users to search “EV charging stations” and select the “fast charge” filter.

Also available is a filter that lets you sort by identifying compatible EV plug types, so that Google Maps give you the nearest, compatible EV charging points for your vehicle.

This EV search feature for Google Maps is available on both Android and iOS versions, and in countries where EV charging stations exist.

Also rolling out with this update is an expansion of search with Live View, which allows users to use augmented reality and perspective modelling to find their way around town. To use this feature, simply lift your Google Maps phone up, tap the camera icon in the search bar, and see nearby landmarks or stores guided by AR arrows. This visual search experience is now coming to cities like London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco, and Tokyo on both Android and iOS.
