Google Launches Hangouts Plugin for Microsoft Outlook

Love using Google Hangouts for video calls and online meetings?

Now you can do so with Outlook by installing the newly launched Hangouts plugin for Microsoft Outlook. While it only works with Windows, the plugin adds two buttons in the Office Ribbon for Outlook Mail and Calendar (one for scheduled and one for unscheduled video calls) so you can either create a meeting and add a Hangouts video call to it, or spontaneously launch a video call.

Guests can be added in multiple ways – provided they have a Google apps account in the same domain. Either add them as a guest in the calendar event, add them as a guest in the video call, or send them the video call name if you’re using Chromebox for meetings devices. Non-Google Apps customers will need Chromebox for meetings to use the Hangouts Plugin for Microsoft Outlook.
