Google is back in the tablet space with the 11-inch Pixel Tablet
A year after teasing its return to the tablet space, Google today unveiled the Pixel Tablet at the I/O Conference 2023.
The Google Pixel Tablet sports a 11-inch 16:10 LCD display (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) and an aluminium frame. Powering the Pixel Tablet are the Google Tensor G2, the same chipset found in the Pixel Fold, Pixel 7A and Pixel 7/7 Pro, 8GB RAM, Android 13, and a battery stated to deliver up to 12 hours of video streaming on a single charge.
Other specs include 128GB/256GB internal storage space, USB-C port, an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, a fingerprint scanner, and Wi-Fi connectivity. There is no cellular model. Google says over 50 of its apps are optimised for the Pixel Tablet which include Google Meet and YouTube.
Bundled with the Pixel Tablet is the Charging Speaker Dock, which transforms the tablet into Hub Mode where it can be used as a smart home controller, music and entertainment player, voice-activated helper or digital photo frame.
The Pixel Tablet is also the first tablet with built-in Chromecast. This allows users to cast videos or music from the phone to the tablet in Hub Mode.
The Google Pixel Tablet is now available for pre-order in the U.S, Canada, U.K, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Japan and Australia for US$499. It will hit retail shelves from 20 June. There is no word on its local availability or pricing.
