David Lieb, CEO and cofounder of Bump technologies -- acquired by Google in September 2013 -- has announced on the Bump Blog, that the company's two core products, Bump and Flock will be discontinued on 31 January.

Bump is an application (iOS and Android) that let users share data like contacts and photos simply by bumping their devices together, while Flock is a photo service that creates a single album with photos from multiple devices.

Users of these two services will have till the end of January to export their data, as the apps will be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play store, while installed apps will cease to function and all user data will be deleted.

We’ve taken much care to make sure that you can retain any data you have in Bump and Flock. At any point in the next 30 days, simply open either app and and follow the instructions for exporting your data. You’ll then receive an email with a link containing all of your data (photos, videos, contacts, etc) from Bump or Flock.

The reason that Lieb gave for the end of Bump and Flock,  was that members of the Bump team are now heavily involved in new projects within Google.
