Google Assistant can now control more than 5,000 devices

Google just announced that its digital voice assistant can now control more than 5,000 devices

This is a sharp increase from 1,500 devices in January. Using your voice, Google Assistant can connect to cameras, dishwashers, doorbells, dryers, lights, plugs, thermostats, security systems, switches, vacuums, washers, fans, locks, sensors, heaters, air purifiers and refrigerators.

Based on its data, Google states that one of the most popular ways people use Google Assistant in their homes is to watch movies/shows on their TV and play music. Media and entertainment queries have jumped 400% over the past 6 months.

Google is working with device brands around the world to ensure compatibility of Google Assistant with the most popular smart home devices. In the coming months, consumers can expect to see support for ADT lights and thermostats, Xiaomi lights, Hunter Douglas window treatments, HiSense's H9E Plus and H9100E Plus TVs, Arlo security cameras and new LG appliances.

If you want to find out more about Google Assistant, Google Home and Google Home mini smart speakers, and how they interact with other smart devices, Courts is a good place to check out; there are Google Home display areas in 8 outlets around the island as well as a new Smart Home Experience Hub at the flagship megastore in Tampines
