Google adds Guest Mode, offering better privacy control with Google smart devices

Are your parents or relatives visiting? Do you have very judgemental friends coming over? Well, Google has a new Guest Mode feature for its Google Nest Audio and Google Nest Hub Max smart home devices, allowing its users to have more control over their privacy at home.

In a nutshell, Guest Mode will not save user interactions to the currently logged in Google Account. Guest Mode also refrains from showing/announcing personal results, including stuff on your calendar and browser history. Your guests don't need to know you're setting aside an hour to shave, for instance.

To trigger Guest Mode, a user only needs to tell Google Assistant "Hey Google, turn on Guest Mode". If the smart home device has a display interface, a Guest Mode icon will show when it's active. If there's no display, the user can check by asking Google Assistant if Guest Mode is on. Similarly, users can get out of Guest Mode by telling the Google Assistant to turn it off.

It remains to be seen if this feature extends to other devices with Google Assistant support. Still, the FAQ for Guest Mode is pretty handy if you want to know how to maximise the new feature.
