Goodnotes recently released Goodnotes 6, the newest version of its popular note-taking app.

The highlight of this update is its AI-powered features like handwriting recognition for features like handwriting autocorrect and autocomplete. It also features loads of other smaller tweaks to improve the note-taking experience.

Goodnotes 6 uses AI and the neural engine in your Apple device to recognise your handwriting for features like spellcheck. And not only is it able to detect that you have spelt wrongly, it can correct it for you in your own handwriting. And the more you write, the better and more accurately it will be at mimicking your own handwriting.

It's also introducing an "experimental" autocomplete feature that can complete your words in your own handwriting. This feature currently only works after users write a minimum of three characters, but there are plans to expand this feature to offer full-word prediction in the future.

In addition to these AI-powered features, Goodnotes 6 is also introducing a couple of gesture-based actions to improve the experience such as Scribble to Erase and Circle to Lasso.

Scribble to Erase lets users scribble over their words to quickly erase them, saving them the trouble of having to undo or reach for the eraser tool. Circle to Lasso lets users instantly select text to move them around or resize them.

Goodnotes 6 is also introducing a new marketplace for digital stationery such as stickers, various card and paper templates, and subject-specific revision notes for students. Some of these will be given free to paid subscribers, while others will require separate purchases.

Availability and pricing

Goodnotes 6 is available now and only on Apple devices. You can use it on your iPad, iPhone, or Mac and all your notes will be synced.

The free version gives you access to three notebooks and restrictions on audio recording and exam practice materials.

Users can unlock all features by subscribing for S$14.98 a year or a one-time payment of S$44.98.

Those who already own Goodnotes 5 will receive a discount on their first-year subscription if they choose to upgrade to Goodnotes 6.
