Gigabyte has announced an update for its Aero 15 and 15X gaming laptops. In a YouTube video and new landing page, the company revealed upgraded features such as an improved display, a slightly slimmer design, and support for Dolby Atmos.
The display was already one of the most impressive aspects of the original Aero 15, and its gorgeous edge-to-edge design and X-Rite Pantone-certified display made for an excellent viewing experience.
That said, the 60Hz display meant that it was still lacking in a key area compared to other gaming laptops with 120Hz displays.
Gigabyte is fixing that now with the new Aero 15 laptops, with an option for a 144Hz 1080p display that retains the slim edge-to-edge design from before. Alternatively, you can also opt for a 4K IPS panel that boasts 100 per cent coverage of the AdobeRGB color space, a prospect that should appeal to photographers and other creative professionals.
Both display options also feature an ambient light sensor that automatically detects how bright your surroundings are and adjusts the backlight accordingly.
In addition, the chassis is slightly thinner than before, and it measures just 18mm thick (down from 19.9mm) now.
On top of that, the card reader is getting an upgrade as well. Gigabyte has switched to the new UHS-II interface that reportedly delivers up to 12 times faster read and write speeds, so you can transfer large files more quickly from your SD card.
Finally, the new Aero 15 laptops also feature a new keyboard with N-key rollover and Dolby Atmos digital audio.
Here's an overview of its specifications for the Aero 15X:
- 15.6-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel 144Hz IPS display

The Aero 15W shares the same specifications, and the only difference is that it comes equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.
