Genshin Impact's Ver 2.2 update will introduces Thoma and Inazuma's last major island
Genshin Impact's Ver 2.2 update on 13 Oct introduces Thoma and Inazuma's last major island
After braving through what we're going to call a "relatively eventful" anniversary celebration (or lack thereof, depending on how you see it), Genshin Impact is back on its feet and ready to roll out its version 2.2 update. According to developer miHoYo, Travellers can expect it to arrive just over a week from now on 13 Oct, and it's bringing quite a few things (not to mention characters) to the popular multi-platform RPG.
First up, the update, which is titled "Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog" introduces Tsurumi Island, the last of Inazuma's six major islands. The island is permanently covered with a thick blanket of fog and as such Travellers might find themselves encountering "unprecedented challenges" while exploring. Among those challenges are the island's powerful, stealthy predators like Rifthounds and Rifthound Whelps, who will inflict the Corrosion status on players upon a successful hit. This drains the player's HP regardless of whether they're shielded or not, making healers a key addition. Additionally, players can also look forward to taking part in the "Shadow of the Ancients" event, which involves completing investigation commissions to defeat an "Anomalous Model Ruin Grader".
As for new characters, Thoma - the "fixer" that players encountered earlier during the Inazuma storyline will be officially added to the playable roster as a four-star character. He wields a Pyro Vision and uses a polearm in battle, though he is also capable of providing strong defense options and buffs to teammates. Players will be able to pick him up during the second Event Wish alongside Hu Tao, and both his and Sayu's Hangout Events will also be included with the update. Speaking of characters, if you didn't manage to claim the Horizon Zero Dawn collab character Aloy before, you'll now be able to redeem her for free.
As for seasonal happenings, Travellers can enjoy the "Labyrinth Warriors" event, which will see them embarking into a labyrinth located in a mystic area of Inazuma. Of course, you won't be alone - "Childe" Tartaglia and Xinyan will apparently be joining you on this adventure, as well as the mysterious paper figure called "Shiki Taishou". Separately, another seasonal event called "Tuned to the World's Sounds" will let players take part in a rhythm game and hammer out different tunes with Ningguang, Zhongli, Keqing, Xiao and many other characters.
Finally, more features will be added to the Serenitea Pot, and the list of inclusions are primarily Inazuma-themed - like the Silken Courtyard realm layout and the Floating Platform furnishing type, among other Blueprints and flowers. On the technical end, miHoYo has also highlighted that the game now features DualSense controller support for PC, and if you haven't checked it out yet, they've also joined up with Razer to develop some merchandise for Genshin Impact's anniversary.
