Garmin launches its MARQ collection of luxury smartwatches with prices starting at S$2,499

Garmin’s MARQ collection of high-end luxury smart/connected watches are finally available here on our sunny shores.

The MARQ is the Garmin’s flagship collection of smartwatches and they are a clear step up in terms of build and design from the company’s other smartwatch offerings.

The design is more refined and polished, and only premium materials like titanium, ceramic, and Italian leather are used.

The MARQ collection consists of five models, each designed with a particular lifestyle and purpose in mind. That said, all models are feature all-day stress monitoring, notifications from your phone, music storage, and streaming, and Garmin Pay.

The Garmin MARQ Athlete.

First up, we have the Athlete. Designed primarily for runners, the Athlete features a brushed DLC bezel that features VO2 max and recovery time markers. The case is titanium and the strap is silicon.

The Garmin MARQ Expedition.

The Expedition was designed for explorers and hikers, and features a raw titanium bezel with etched compass markings and a specialized Expedition app. Handily, this app lets you do up to four weeks of GPS tracking at one-hour intervals. It comes with a “vintage-inspired” brushed titanium case and an Italian vachetta leather strap.

The Garmin MARQ Captain.

The Captain was designed for regatta enthusiasts and is distinguished by its blue ceramic bezel with a regatta timer. Its watch face shows a detailed display of present weather conditions. Impressively, it connects to Garmin marine control units allowing you to quickly control the autopilot.

The Garmin MARQ Aviator.

For frequent travelers and the jet set, there’s the Aviator. It features a 24-hour GMT bezel made out of ceramic, and its clock display features GMT hands allowing you to track multiple timezones easily and clearly. And if you actually fly, the Aviator is even preloaded with a worldwide aviation database, navigational aids, and radio frequencies. There’s even an emergency button and quickly shows where the nearest airport or landing strip is.

The Garmin MARQ Driver.

Finally, we have the Driver. The entire watch is DLC-coated titanium and the bezel features a tachymeter scale. It features a special Race app that has a useful auto lap split function based on GPS position. It is also pre-loaded with maps of over 260 race tracks.

Availability and pricing

The Garmin MARQ collection is available exclusively at All Watches and comes with a three-year warranty. Prices are as follows:

Garmin MARQ collection prices
Model Price
Athlete S$2,499
Expedition S$2,799
Captain S$2,999
Aviator S$3,199
Driver S$4,199

There’s no sugarcoating this: these are very pricey watches. You can get a lot of Apple Watches for the money or you could easily get Montblanc's Summit 2 or Tag Heuer's Connected 41 with change to spare. Alternatively, you could also get yourself a nice mechanical watch from Swiss brands like Omega and Tudor that, unlike the aforementioned options, won't become obsolete.

At any rate, our recommendation is to definitely head down to All Watches and see if these are right for you.
