Futuresource: Samsung is the world’s biggest soundbar maker for the 6th straight year

It’s no secret that Samsung is the world’s largest TV manufacturer — in fact, it’s a title that the company has held for the last 14 years. But not many realise that Samsung is also a leader in the soundbar category.

According to international research firm Futuresource Consulting, in terms of sales revenue, Samsung is the world’s biggest soundbar maker for the sixth straight year. Futuresource’s results have pegged Samsung’s soundbar global market share and industry sales volume share in 2019 at 21.8% and 16.5% respectively.

In case you’re wondering who was the leader in the soundbar market seven years ago according to Futuresource, the answer is: nobody knows. That’s because Futuresource only started tracking this category in 2014 and Samsung has taken the top spot since then.

To recap, Samsung has unveiled its newest soundbar lineup at CES 2020 two months ago. There are four Atmos soundbars this year and the flagship is the Q950T, which is the world’s first 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos soundbar. Like last year’s Q90R, I expect the new Q950T and Q900T (7.1.2) Atmos soundbars to cost a pretty penny, but the good news is Samsung also has a couple of more affordable Atmos-capable models, such as the 3.1.2-channel Q70T.

Additionally, regardless of which Q series soundbars you buy this year, they all support something called Q-Symphony. Long story short, this feature lets you use the soundbar together with a compatible 2020 Samsung QLED TV (Q80T and up) for a more immersive surround sound experience.
