Future iPhones to have curved displays and support touchless control
With phones today looking very similar to one another, Apple is said to be planning some drastic design changes to the iPhone lineup.
Sources told Bloomberg that Apple is considering to feature touchless gesture controls and curved displays for future iPhones although these features are still in the early research and development stages.
The touchless gesture controls would consider the proximity of the finger to the screen and execute certain tasks without the user actually tapping it. The sensor technology is believed to be built into the display rather than rely on a motion sensor on the phone's bezel.
As for the curved display, Apple is said to be developing one that curved inward gradually from the top to the bottom. This is somewhat similar to the LG G Flex phones.
For this year, Bloomberg reiterates that Apple will launch three new iPhone models. Two of them are expected to sport OLED displays while the other one will use LCD. To secure sufficient supplies of OLED panels, Apple has expanded its sourcing beyond Samsung Display to include LG Display.
