Fujifilm announces the launch of the X-H1 camera with in-body image stabilization

We first reported on rumors about the Fujifilm X-H1 here, then followed up with a report about a leaked posting on Amazon. Now we’ve finally got the official specifications of the camera to bring to you, as Fujifilm has finally officially launched the camera!

As reported, the X-H1 will be the first X-series camera to sport 5-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) that allows for up to 5.5 stops of compensation. This uses three axial accelerometers, three axial Gyro sensors, and a specially developed dual-processor which performs approximately 10,000 calculations per second for optimal compensation. IBIS will work with all XF and XC lenses, and will work in both mechanical shutter and electronic shutter modes, so you can truly maximize the effects.

The X-H1's body design seems to be a combination of the X-T2 and the GFX.

The camera will get a new spring mechanism that further reduces the micro-vibrations caused by the mechanical shutter. It will also get a flicker reduction mode for better indoor sports photography, and a new, more robust body that is dust-resistant, water-resistant, and operates at temperatures down to -10C.

As we already reported, the EVF will be an improved one that’s on-par with the one found in the Sony A9, with a display lag of just 0.005 seconds and a 3.69 million dot resolution. As with the X-T2, the rear touch LCD panel will get three-way tilt. The X-H1 will also get a 1.28” LCD top display similar to what’s on the GFX 50S so you get instant confirmation of your settings. Even the shutter button has been improved, with a new leaf-spring switch incorporated for more stable feel.

In terms of video features, the X-H1 will be the first X-series camera to gain the Eterna film simulation mode. This mode simulates cinematic film, creating understated colors and rich shadow tones. The camera records at a high bit rate of 200Mbps, and is capable of capturing 1080/120p high-speed video. It also does DCI 4K (4096x2160) shooting, has a 400% dynamic range setting (approximately 12 stops) and comes with a high-sound quality internal microphone (24bit/48 kHz).

A vertical power boost grip (VPB) will also be released that makes for easier handling in vertical mode and allows recharging capabilities so you can charge multiple batteries simultaneously. Local price and availability has not be announced yet, but B&H Photo has it for US$1,899 (body only) with availability set as 1 March.

*Update*

Local pricing has been released!

The X-H1 will retail for S$2899 (body only) and $3299 (with the VPB).

The camera will be available in Singapore after 9th March 2018.
