Fujifilm’s medium-format GFX 50S pricing and availability announced
Fujifilm’s medium-format GFX 50S pricing and availability announced
Fujifilm’s mirrorless medium-format camera, the GFX 50S, will ship in late February with a suggested retail price of US$6,499 (approx. S$9,281).
That makes the GFX 50S considerably more affordable than the other medium-format digital cameras on the market, which range from US$8,499.99 for the Pentax 645Z to an eye-watering US$32,995 for the Hasselblad H6D-100c.
The GFX 50S uses a 51.4MP Fujifilm G Format medium-format sensor (43.8 x 32.9mm), which is larger than the size of full-frame sensors (36 × 24 mm) used in pro-level DSLR cameras. The larger the sensor, the more detail and dynamic range that can be captured, resulting in a richer image.

Fujifilm launches three new lenses for the GFX 50S
Together with news about the GFX 50S’ pricing and availability, Fujifilm also announced three new lenses for the G-mount, a 63mm f/2.8, a 32-64mm f/4 and a 120mm f/4.
Like other medium-format systems, the G-mount has a reverse crop factor of 0.79x, so the 35mm equivalent is a lesser number compared to the stated focal length. For example, the GF 63mm f/2.8 WR has an equivalent focal length of 50mm. It will be available in February for US$1,499.
The GF 32-64mm f/4 R LM WR has a 35mm equivalent of 25-51mm and a motor-powered internal AF system. It will be available in February for US$2,299.
The GF 120mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Macro is the only lens of the new trio to come with optical image stabilization and is rated for 5 stops. It has an equivalent focal length of 95mm and a minimum focus distance of 45cm. The 120mm will also ship in February and retail for US$2,699.
Fujifilm says that three more lenses will be available by the end of the year, including a 23mm f/4 (equivalent to 18mm), a 45mm f/2.8 (equivalent to 35mm) and a 110m f/2 (equivalent to 87mm).
