Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 went out with a bang!

To end Fortnite’s big Marvel crossover season, Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds arrived in the Battle Royale map to… well, devour everything. In a one-time live event, players got to fight the massive comicbook villain with other Marvel heroes such as Iron Man, Wolverine and Thor.

You can watch a captured version of the event below:

The event went down at an awkward time for those of us in Asia. In Singapore time, it kicked off at 5am this morning, meaning that players who wanted to watch things unfold live in Fortnite had to stay up for quite a bit. Thankfully, I managed to get into the event earlier today - and boy, was it wild.

Past live events like these would have players run around the Battle Royale map while watching an event unfold around them, like the one that ended Fortnite Chapter 1. This time, players spawned on a Helicarrier and watched Galactus slowly rise out of the sea beyond the map, approach the Helicarrier and give it a big ol’ slap.

Once the Helicarrier was destroyed, players shot up into the sky, where Iron Man (who sounded a lot like Nolan North) gave everyone jetpacks to watch things unfold. Galactus finally arrived at his goal - the Zero Point, a source of unknown power. As he absorbed this power and players got sucked into a strange cosmic dimension, Iron Man revealed that he had somehow built countless Battle Buses, and modified them to act as bombs.

At that point, players were given control of Battle Buses to fly and destroy Galactus drones in an on-rails shooting segment, with the help of Thor and Wolverine. After a bit of spectacle, all the Battle Buses made it to their destination - Galactus’ belly, destroying him from the inside and ruining his Fortnite-destroying plans. A crack in space-time formed, and Galactus fell through it.

The crack then evolved into a butterfly pattern, and after Iron Man thanked players for their help, the screen blacked out entirely. After a short tease involving Jonesy from the Doomsday Device event, a message was displayed: To be continued - in Fortnite Season 5. More details on Fortnite’s next season, along with a resolution to this event’s cliffhanger will drop later today.
