Former YouTube and Spotify exec joins Apple
Apple is going all out to assemble the best team for its video and music business. The Information claims that Apple has hired Shiva Rajaraman, a former YouTube and Spotify executive.
Rajaraman's hire is a notable one as he has worked for 8 years in YouTube and 2 years in Spotify. At YouTube, Rajaraman was involved in securing licensed content for streaming from companies such as Disney. At Spotify, he focused on the video and podcasting projects which also involved in licensing content from Time Warner, Disney and NBC.
The Information added that Apple currently does not have a clear direction for its video efforts as executives are unable to come to an agreement. It is likely Apple is considering to bundle its Music, news and books with new video and cable services. Just last month, Apple hired former Spotify VP of Content to lead label relations and former Amazon Fire TV chief to lead its Apple TV business.
