Airbnb announced that former Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts has joined its Board of Directors as a third independent non-affiliated Board Member.

Brian Chesky, the co-founder, CEO and Head of Community at Airbnb, said he is excited to have Angela joined the Board of Directors and feel that her innovative thinking will make Airbnb a better company.

In a statement, Angela expressed her happiness to join Airbnb's Board of Directors at an important phase on the incredible journey of the company and its community of hosts and guests. Angela added that she knew Brian and fellow co-founders Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk for many years.

Angela was senior retail VP at Apple for five years before she left last month. Apple wrote in its press release that Angela departed the company for new personal and professional pursuits. Deirdre O’Brien took over in an expanded role as senior VP of Retail + People.
