Forget Google's Street View. Cat Street View is here!

If you guessed that Cat Street View is Street View from a cat's perspective, you're right on the money.

Google's Street View is a wonderful idea and tool. It allows you to not only find places you've never been too, but also look at it as if you're there. It's not 3D, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Now, what if you replaced the generic Street View camera height and lowered it so that you're looking at a level a cat might see? You'd get Cat Street View!

Cat Street View isn't endorsed by Google and neither is it an add-on for Google Street View. Instead, it's a wholly different project done by the Hiroshima Prefecture, as part on an on-going tourism initiative.

The Cat Street View currently only offers a selection of the backstreets and shops of Onomichi, a Japanese town in the prefecture famous for its feline residents. A future expansion will add Kubo and Misode Tenmagu to the experience as well. Now, not only do you get to view the beautiful town, there's also a mini-game where you need to find 95 cats that are hidden in the program.

It's all in Japanese, but it's simplistic enough to use that cat lovers the world over can enjoy.
