Apple suffers another setback in its electric vehicle (EV) project.

In a news release, Ford shared that Doug Field will be joining the company as chief advanced technology and embedded systems officer. Field will be working closely with Hau Thai-Tang, the chief product platform and operations officer, on the next generation of connected products and experiences.

Field had been leading the EV project at Apple since 2018. Before he joined Apple, Field was at Telsa and led the production of the Model 3. Prior to his Telsa job, Field was the vice president of Mac hardware engineering at Apple.

Apple's EV project has lost several top executives in recent months. Bloomberg reported in June that at least three members from the management team have left this year. Nonetheless, Apple managed to hire two former Mercedes engineers to join its Special Projects Group.
