The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with better sleep tracking features and an AMOLED screen

Fitbit just unveiled its latest smartwatch, the Versa 2 and sleep tracking is one of the key highlights.

With more than 10.5 billion nights of sleep tracking data, Fitbit introduced four new features to help users better understand and improve their sleep. The first feature is Sleep Score, which gives a nightly score based on your heart rate (sleeping and resting), restlessness, time awake and Sleep Stages.

The second feature is Smart Wake, where machine learning is applied to wake you during an optimal time of the sleep cycle (in light or REM sleep) and based on a pre-selected 30-minute interval.

The third feature is Sleep Mode, which allows you to disable the screen display and mute notifications to minimize distractions. Sleep Mode can also be enabled during a workout or in a meeting.

The fourth feature is Estimated Oxygen Variation Graph, which gives you an estimate of the variability of oxygen levels in your bloodstream. The data is compiled from a combination of the red and infrared sensors on the back of the Versa 2. Short-term variations in oxygen levels in the bloodstream may indicate variations in breathing during sleep.

Another significant upgrade is the display; the Versa 2 comes with a larger AMOLED display compared to the 1.34-inch LCD display on the first generation Versa. There is an optional Always-On Display mode, which will reduce the typical 5+ days of battery life to 2+ days.

Other new features include an on-device microphone to enable the built-in Amazon Alexa experience, a Spotify app to control music playback, Fitbit Pay support, and a faster processor for better performance and seamless navigation.

The Versa 2 will be coming soon to local retail stores at a price of S$318. The standard model is available in five finishes: black/carbon aluminium, stone/mist grey aluminium, petal/copper rose aluminium, bordeaux/copper rose aluminum, and emerald/copper rose aluminium. The special edition costs S$358 is available in two options: smoke woven/mist grey aluminium and navy & pink woven/copper rose aluminium.
