Fitbit is rumoured to be working on a smartwatch for kids.

A source told Engadget that Fitbit will launch a smartwatch with 4G connectivity for kids later this year. Its acquisition of Hong Kong startup Doki Technologies is believed to be critical in the development of this smartwatch.

Engadget speculates that Fitbit acquired Doki for the latter's self-built platform which has several safety tracking features that could be essential for a kids smartwatch. In addition, Doki released the world's first kids smartwatch with video calling. Doki's expertise in this area could help Fitbit to expand its presence in this market segment.
