Fitbit and Google collaborate to drive innovation in digital health and wearables

Fitbit and Google have announced a partnership to innovate and transform the future of digital health and wearables.

Under the collaboration, Fitbit plans to use Google's new Cloud Healthcare API to integrate further into the healthcare system. This will connect Fitbit users' data directly with the electronic medical records (EMR) used by doctors and hospitals, hence providing patients and clinicians a more holistic view of the patient profile and leading to a more personalized care.

Fitbit's recent acquisition of Twine Health can also benefit from Google's Cloud Healthcare API as clinicans and patients can collaborate on care, resulting in better health outcomes and positive returns for employers, health plans and hospitals.

To accelerate these innovations and developments, Fitbit will move to Google Cloud Platform for its products and services. The advanced cloud services and engineering support will enable Fitbit to scale faster for its Health Solutions business and expand deeper into population health analysis.
