The first Asia-Pacific McLaren Shadow Project qualifying event is now live

The Singapore Tourism Board, McLaren Shadow Project and MET Events are teaming up to kick off the ‘Race to Singapore’ event in Asia and Pacific. Online qualifiers for the event are now live across the region.

The fun bit about this event is that anyone can participate. Esports enthusiasts and racing game fans can race it out on F1 2019 for a chance to join the McLaren Shadow esports team. They also stand a chance of joining the McLaren elite driver development programme, and can win a suite of custom sim-racing prizes.

From now until 26 August, you can compete in an online Time Trial qualifier on the Marina Bay Street Circuit in the McLaren F1 car, the MCL34. Players have to submit a screenshot or photograph of their best lap time on the Time Trial mode on the Race to Singapore website.

The eight best drivers from selected regions (Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore) will then have to battle it out in a series of regional online finals. The two fastest sim racers from the rest of Asia Pacific directly qualify to the grand finals of the event.

Here’s the exciting bit. The winners of each regional finals will then be flown to Singapore to battle for the title of ‘Race to Singapore’ champion. The champion will then join the world’s best of the best of sim racers in the 2019 McLaren Shadow Project grand finals, at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, UK in December.
