Facebook has just announced that it has released an update to its iOS app. The update fixes a severe battery draining issue that has been affecting some iOS users.

Ari Grant, an engineering manager at Facebook, also took to the popular social media site to explain what caused this issue.

According to Grant, there's two main problems with the app. The first was what he called a "CPU spin" in Facebook's network code that would inadvertently cause the CPU to remain active even if there was nothing to do.

The second has to do with how the app managed audio sessions. If you were playing a video in Facebook and left the app halfway, the app would not stop playing audio properly. Needless to say, this causes unnecessary battery drain.

So if you are an avid Facebook user and have been experiencing poor battery life on your iOS device, it's time to go get that update!
