Ink tank printer proponent Epson has just added another high-yield business printer to its Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS) printer line-up. Called the WorkForce Pro WF-C579R business printer, this is an all-in-one inkjet device with color print, scan, copy, and fax functions, and features a 50-sheet, one-pass duplex ADF for quick scanning and copying of two-sided documents.

Using Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead technology, the WF-C579R is able to print in both color and black at a rate of 24ipm. It can do auto duplex printing too, and is able to hit 15ipm in this mode. Because it doesn’t need to warm up like a laser printer, Epson says you can get a color page printed in just 5.3 seconds.

Being a RIPS printer also means that replacing inks is a quick and hassle-free affair. The standard ink packs that the WF-C579R uses are able to print up to 10,000 pages in black and 5,000 pages in color, and if that isn’t enough, It there are also high-capacity packs that last up to 50,000 and 20,000 pages respectively.

Designed to be an office workhorse, the WF-C579R accepts paper through its two front cassettes and rear slot—combined, they can hold 830 sheets of plain paper. For businesses that print a lot, you can buy another 500-sheet cassette.

Other noteworthy features on the WF-C579R include a front USB port that accepts USB flash drives (so you can print from the drive or save scans or faxes to it directly), a big 4.3-inch color touchscreen, and support for both wired and wireless networking. Like most of Epson’s printers, popular mobile printing solutions such as Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria Print Service are supported.

Finally, the WF-C579R is compatible with Epson’s Device Admin fleet management software and Print Admin print management software. On the security front, it plays nice with LDAP address books, offers user access controls, and supports the use of PINs to secure print jobs and IP address filtering.

The WF-C579R is now available through Epson at a price of S$1,028.
