Epson’s two new EcoTank models come with increased speed over their predecessors

Epson has announced two new additions to its EcoTank series, the L3550, and L5590 model printers. The company says they are targeting users looking for higher printing speeds and durability for their homes or offices.

Each of the printers is made with 30% recycled plastic, and they utilise 84% fewer consumables compared to ink cartridge printers, with the packaging comprising over 80% recycled cardboard. They also come with a user-replaceable maintenance box, meaning that a user can replace it with ease, anytime and anywhere without the hassle of bringing their printer to a service centre.

Connectivity options include smart printing features such as Airprint, Mopria, and Epson Smart Panel. With Epson’s Smart Panel App, users are given direct access to functions such as remote On/Off, printing, scanning, and copying while monitoring the printer’s operation and ink level.

Both the ADF-less L3550 and L5590 also come equipped with Epson’s proprietary Heat-Free Technology. Epson claims that this helps the user save money as no heat is generated during the printing process, less power is consumed, and the printers have less downtime and need fewer replacement parts.

They also support ink tanks that print up to 4,300 pages in black and 7,300 pages in colour. and as we mentioned earlier, speed is one of their plus points. They both print faster than some of Epson's earlier models, with the L3550 and L5590 printing at 15/8 ipm vs 10/5 ipm (for black/colour printing) compared to the L3250 and L5290.

Pricing and availability

The Epson EcoTank L3550 and L5590 printers will be available starting from 20 February 2023 supposedly at Epson’s flagship stores on Lazada, Shopee, and on Epson's official store for S$369 and S$469 respectively. One nice feature is that these new models have warranty coverage of up to 50k pages or 2 years, whichever comes first.
