The main feature of Epson’s L series printers is their ink tank system, which places the ink tanks outside the printer so that it’s easy to refill them. Not just for business users looking to print office documents, there are also several photo-oriented printers that use this system, one of which being the recent L850.

A multi-function device (print, copy, scan), the L850 is capable of borderless photo prints, and has a 6-color ink tank system that Epson says is able to print up to 1,800 4R photos. It can also print directly onto the printable surface of CDs and DVDs, thus reducing the need for additional adhesive labels.

The printer is equipped with a memory card slot, PictBridge, a direct USB 2.0 port, as well as a 2.7-inch LCD screen. For documents, print speeds are pegged at 5ipm (mono) and 4.8ipm (color), with resolution going to as high as 5,760dpi for very detailed documents.

The Epson L850 is priced at S$589, and is already out in stores. It has a warranty coverage of up to 1 year or 3,000 prints (whichever comes first).
